Matevž Frangež, born in 1978, is the State Secretary at the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport since 24 January 2023, and has previously served as State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology from 1 June 2022. As State Secretary, he is responsible for the following areas:
Frangež obtained his university degree in law. He has previously been active in school, youth and student organizations ever since his youth. From 2002 to 2010 he was a member of the City Council of the City Municipality of Maribor. He was twice elected as a Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia in the mandate of 2008 – 2011 and 2011 – 2014, respectively, followed by being appointed as a State Secretary in the Cabinet of Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia. In 2015, he decided to pursue an entrepreneurial path, and in 2019 he took over the area of strategic communication in the Social Democrats party and was a professional associate of the party’s parliamentary group in the National Assembly.
